ch 12

Hey im piggy. After I died, I stayed and watched over the island and Ralph. Soon after my death, Ralph had to hide in the thicket to survive. Sameric were tied up and basically forced into jack’s tribe. Now Ralph is alone. Although Im worried about him, im glad that sameric are looking out for him by giving him meat. Since I died, I kept a close watch on jack’s tribe to figure out what they might do. Roger got one of the twins to tell him where Ralph was hiding and now they are going to go hunt for him. First they pushed rocks off the cliff and onto the thicket then they lit the thicket on fire using my glasses! Ralph rushed through the forest and when he got to the beach, there was a naval officer there. I couldn’t believe I had died and a short time after they were rescued. I could have seen my auntie again. Percival couldn’t remember his name for some odd reason and jack didn’t protest when Ralph said he was the one in charge. The naval officer seemed upset with the boys when he found out me and Simon were killed.

ch 8/ ch 9

The most horrific scene in chapter 8 was when the Lord of The Flies was talking to Simon. When I read this chapter, I thought it was disgusting and I almost felt sick. The way the author had described the killing of the pig had upset me. It had been so graphic and visual that I could not help but see in my mind. It made me think that there would be more killing since the hunter and Jack could do this and not feel bad about killing a living thing. When Jack told his hunters to leave the head for the beast I was surprised. I didn’t think they still thought the dead pilot was the “beast”. This made me think that they were hallucinating and losing their grip on reality from being on the island to long. I wondered how Simon, who had seemed so reasonable in the beginning of the book, became delusional and secretive. When the pig head on the stick, "Lord of the Flies" said to Simon, "you can’t kill me. I’m part of you." It made me think about what that part was. It turned out to be fear, evil, the power to kill, darkness, and many more.

ch 7 Shadows and Tall Trees

Shadows and Tall Trees
Whats that in between the rocks?
Perspective: Jack

Ralph almost kills a pig and they act it out and Robert was the pig. The mood was excitement and they were chanting “Kill the pig, Cut his throat, Kill the pig, Bash him in.”

I said we should use s littleun since they’re useless to us. This would foreshadow neglect to the littleuns.

The boys found a creature in the gap in between the rocks on the mountains. The creature they found did not look like the beast Sam n Eric described. This shows they are gullible.

I only hate him because he is the leader and I’m tired of his stupid rules and hearing about the fire and how it's soooo important.

What’s the use? I mean he would only make fun of me for it. There’s no point.

ch 6

Lord of the Flies
Beast from Air
“What’s that falling from the sky?!”
Perspective: Piggy
What sign comes down from the grown up world?
A pilot gets shot down from the sky and lands on the island.
Why aren’t the boys aware of it?
They were asleep.
Why are Sam ‘n Eric so terrified?
They thought they saw the beast when they really saw a dead man.
How do Sam ‘n Eric describe the beast?
It has wings, claws, and sharp teeth. I think they just let their imagination run.
What is the attitude of the boys when going off to look for the beast?
They want to go hunt and look for it but Ralph wants them to have a game plan first.
Is there really a beast? How do you know?
I don’t think there really is a beast. I think they just let their minds run. I don’t think there even is a beast. We’ve never seen one before on the island.

Painted Faces and Long Hair
"You Let the Fire Out!"
Perspective: Ralph
What things are you having trouble adjusting to on the island that are different from your life at home in England?
No parents and having to get food and make shelter on our own.
How do you feel about the littluns?
They’re alright. They don’t bother us much but they don’t help around the island.
What do they do with their time?
They play and eat fruit.
Why do you all paint your faces?
Jack said that the pigs could see us so we had to blend in with the forest.
How do you feel when your face is painted?
Mine was not painted but I’m sure it felt weird.
Why doesn't the passing ship see you on the island?
Jack had let the fire out and they couldn't see our smoke.
Why was the fire allowed to go out?
Jack and his hunters cared more about hunting and getting meat then keeping the fire going and
How do you re-assert your chieftainship? (How do you take charge of the boys once again?)
I didn't want to but I had to remind Jack that I was still the leader by being stern with him and not letting him get away with any crap.

Chapter two ~ Fire on the Mountain

Lord of the flies

Chapter two ~ Fire on the Mountain

“Oh Geez Look at All That Smoke!”

Perspective~ Simon

Dear Diary,
Today, Jack, Ralph, I went on an expedition to see if we were on an island. Like we predicted, we found that we were. On our way back, we came across a piglet stuck in some creepers. Jack took out his knife, as if to kill the piglet but with a martyred expression on his face, he never brought his arm down to stab the piglet. Even though we both knew why he couldn’t kill the piglet I had to ask. “Next time. Next time there will be no mercy.” Jack said with an officious voice as he slammed his knife into the tree bark. When we got back, we had another meeting. As soon as Ralph told us we needed a fire so the navy could find us, everyone ran for the top of the mountain leaving piggy and Ralph behind. The errant cries of the group faded away and Ralph started up the mountain.
After we gathered enough wood, we realized we needed a way to start the fire. Jack was first to suggest Piggy’s specs and soon after pinched them right off his face. We had finally got the fire going and suddenly the small fire had become an ebullience, capering fire. It had gotten out of control and Piggy remembered about the small boy and was worried with the fire. He had become so mature in the past few hours and im truly surprised.

chapter one- sound of the shell

Lord of the flies
Chapter one ~ The Sound of the Shell
“The Lonely Island”
Perspective~ piggy
Dear diary,
Today, the plane I was in crashed on an island. After scanning the area, I noticed a motif of fallen palm trees. A fallen plane could do all this damage was incredulous. Although I thought I was alone, I was wrong. Through the forest, a boy with fair skin came near. He had a strong looking body; like a boxer and he seemed to not care about anything. After a while, I proffered for an introduction but he did not seem interested in returning the offer. Soon after, Ralph, the boy I had just met, found a conch in a pool of water. As he continued to blow it, boys of different sizes and shapes came from all over the island. One group stood out the most. They had a leader, Jack, and seemed very kept and orderly. Since I knew most names, I started introducing them to Jack. I knew he was not interested, when he said, “Shut up, Fatty. You’re talking to much.” I don’t know whats worse; being called Fatty, or having Ralph say my name was Piggy after I told him I did not want to be called that.
I think I would have looked up to Jack, but I did not like how he judged me before he got to know me. I understand and know, that I am chubby. I don’t need him to point it out in front of everyone.
When Ralph and Jack were going on an expedition to see if we were on an island, I felt hurt that he chose Simon instead of me. I was with him first and when he found the conch, but was soon replaced by Jack and Simon. I’m glad that Jack is only in charge of the choir boys, and Ralph is the chief of everyone else.
